I Don’t Just Teach the Material—I Used to Write the Exams

Before founding CochranLearning.com, I served as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Indiana University, where I led a federally funded research laboratory and won the Trustees Teaching Award. Throughout my career, I have authored 24 high-impact peer-reviewed publications in journals like Cell and Nature Structural & Molecule Biology.

I know exactly how university professors think because I used to be one of them. Today, as a Medical Director, I understand how these molecular foundations directly translate to real-world clinical and pharmaceutical applications.

During my sessions, my first goal is to establish an atmosphere for students to engage in active learning. I believe that planning specific objectives for individual mentoring sessions will provide students with a focus for the covered material. I am thoroughly prepared and organized, and students typically say that I have an infectious excitement for anything I’m teaching. My patience, proper guidance, and intimate knowledge of the course material has been crucial for mentoring students through difficult biochemistry classes. My experience has also given me discernment to quickly identify the student’s problems and rapidly provide answers to move them forward in the course.
